I just went by Damon's and bought my tickets. I tried to get a photo of the original menu posted for the party. Peanut butter sandwiches for .15, crab and shrimp cocktail for .35 and if you want to go all out for the most expensive item, a fancy cut t-bone for 1.25!! |

I picked up my tickets today and inquired about the back room. Apparently, the back room can only be reserved for large parties of about 50. |

Spytiki is in charge of the reservation. He spoke with Damon's yesterday and we need 50 for the back room. I suggested we get one or two of the large tables in the back room and if we eventually get enough folks then we can fill the entire room. Please PM him and he will ad you to the list. |

Let's make sure that we actually HAVE our reservations made and tickets PURCHASED before getting on the list. Also could everyone please PM me their real names or at least the name they made their reservations under so I can get all of them lumped together at Damon's? If your reservations change (more, less, cancelled, etc.) please let me know. We seem to be up to about 20 right now. Let's get as many as we can as quickly as we can! |

Afraid my reservation needs to be kept separate as my friends that are attending with me are not tiki people at all, but are instead a group of friends that have been dining together at Damon's for decades (most of us for over 30+ years). We sort of have our own little "Damon's Club." We'd be doing this even if Damon's didn't have a Poly theme. But we're eating early and they tend to poop-out early...so I hope you'll let me swing a chair over and join you all for a Mai Tai or two...later on! :) |

Here's the latest scoop. Megan at Damon's says that as of Today(Tuesday)at 2:00 she has only about 20 tickets left...so if you plan to get a reservation for 8:00 pm, do it now. In other news...She also says that since there is such interest, she will be trying to get EVERYONE in she can one way or another for drinks, etc. Please DO get your reservations in and let me know what name you used so I can let her know it's Tiki Central. No before this becomes even more of a mess... I'm not exactly in charge of reservations. I just decided to get all the separate reservations already made at Damon's together in one group so Tiki Central folks could hang together that night. Which, I'll say again, I can't do until I know the REAL names you made ther reservations under. A couple of folks have let me know, but not the majority. AND I don't think everyone on the list has bought their tickets either. This evening is (besides an anniversary) a fundraiser for "Glendale Healthy Kids". Tickets to get in are 20 bucks. Once you're in, the dinner prices are from their 1937 menu. Drinks are 2007 prices, but I think the Mai-Tais are only 6 bucks anyway. We probably don't have enough people to get the back room to ourselves, but one of the managers, Megan, will do what she can to get us all together once I can tell her who's in the TC group . There may be a little wiggle room as she's also going to try to accomodate others if she can. This is turning out to be quite a bash apparently. This is the list so far. Please PM me if your numbers have changed and if you actually have your tickets. Thanks! Well...I plan to talk to her again early this week. Here's what I THINK is going on and why I haven't said anything till I could get all the details. Some of us got reservations. That's fine, we're in. Megan (a manager) wants to get everyone in, but not necessarily at the 8:00 pm reservation time. She figures there will be a lot of the older aged Damon's regulars there that she wants to get in and seated. She said something about TCers doing a sort of "crowd control" and waiting till later in the evening to get in. This is the part I don't understand fully and need to talk to her about it again. At one point she mentioned Damon's T-shirts and event glasses, etc. Apparently some or all of the Hawaiian music will be outside as will a couple of Mai Tai bars so waiting won't be too bad if you're up for it. Some of us (like myself possibly) need to be at work early the next morning and may not want to stay too late. Megan figures the hard-core partyers among us (and non reservation holders) will take advantage of this crowd control arrangement. I just want to get the hard details before I say what's what. Megan also says that the seating inside will be different than usual. Probably just buffet seating. Originally I just figured I'd get us organized so we could all have the same table or take over the back room. We don't have enough people for the back room (which I think will also be buffet seating), but we (with reservations) can certainly all sit together. I'm not sure exactly how the "crowd control" thing is supposed to work or if anyone is even interested. I will try to get his all nailed bown by Tuesday or Wednesday, post the info and PM everyone who has contacted me. Cross your fingers! |

O.K. Here it is... CheekyGirl, Tigerlily, SoccerTiki, Spy-Tiki. Everyone else-reservations, but no ticket, no reservation, no ticket, etc. WILL be able to get in! Remember however that this is a benefit for a children's fund so you must pay 20 dollars (that was the ticket price). You can call Megan at the restaraunt and pay. Probably on the night as well. You will probably be let in later in the evening as they want to get all the older (elderly) customers in and out earlier in the evening. This is the list of people in this group that I know of: Hiphipahula, Murph, Atomikitty, John White, PiPhiRho, BettyBleu, tikied, and anyone else who shows up. This event has been a little confusing. There was something about the first 100 online reservations getting a "surprise". I didn't know that and got my tickets at the restaraunt. I know some people made reservations, but did not get tickets. I'm not clear whether that means your tickets are reserved or not (I don't think so), but it no longer matters. If you are T.C. you're in, just later in the evening. No set time...just when there's finally room. They love the idea that we're coming. Sounds like the fun may be at the outside bar anyway. That's where the band and drinks will be. (Drinks inside too). There will be Highball (I think) glasses made for this event for sale and maybe t-shirts. I hope that clears some things up. What have I forgotten? |

I made on-line reservations, but was a bit paranoid about not having the tickets in my hands. Therefore, I went to Damons to pay for and pick-up my tickets. When I arrived, they had my name down and reservation time written down in the book. So, if you made on-line reservations, it's pretty safe to assume they wrote your name down on in the Big Reservation Book, with your requested reservation time. As Spytiki mentioned, things seem a little disorganized, just my personal opinion, if you don't have a ticket in your hand, I'd would show up a little prior to your reservation time to pay for and pick up your ticket. As far as identification, we are a pretty easily identifable group and most of us know each other, but I, for one will be wearing my "TC ZAZZ button". Cheers and see ya'll on Monday! |

It was a little crowded, disorganized and crazy. I felt kind of bad getting whisked away by our server. Too bad we all couldn't all sit together. :( ........and I think an old man grabbed my *ss. On the up-shot, I did manage to get a cozy/private booth and a commemorative Rock Glass. Two shrimp cocktails, salad, two steak dinners for a whopping $2.20! You can't beat that! |

We were in the early "Damon's Old Timers" seating, and we had a blast. I've never laughed so hard in my life! :) But yeech...drank way too much! Fortunately we had a limo hired (and the driver seemed to remain sober during our absence.). So all those snockered in our group made it to the "After & Crash Party" at a nearby friend's home, safe and sound. Missed seeing the other TC'ers there I guess. Don't know if you all were even there yet when we left! It was a madhouse. And having too much fun to really care at the time, anyway. :) Great time...great cause. Damon's last night! Bahooka for late lunch today! Mai Kai in Fort Lauderdale tomorrow night! A pretty sweet triple-header. Hope I can keep the pace up for the balance of the week at The Hukilau! Off to bed now...gotta a 6am flight! Ouch! :) |

Crazy, Crazy night & Mahalo again to Meg at Damon's for saving us the glasses she promised. She asked our party to be in charge of crowd control in trade for extra glassware, are you kidding! I got caught in traffic & 100 people could not have managed that crowd. Many Thanks again to dibroc for helping us out with keeping TC together as well as possible as I was late. Me & Tiki_Butt (John) stopped in for lunch today because we had to be in Glendale we picked up a couple more glasses too. Management stopped by our table & thanked ALL of TC for showing & being so supportive not only for the Anniversary Party & fundraiser but for supporting Tiki & Hawaiian Culture as well. We were also told there was over 1,100 people for sit down dinner in 5 hours. Remember that's sit down not drive thru wow! Soon who walks in?? Tiki Al! It was a good chit chat. Glad to give back to Glendale's Healthy Kids! [ Edited by: Hiphipahula 2007-06-12 23:41 ] |
