Hi everyone, new guy here - I will be in San Diego sometime during mid July for a day or two and wondered if you could offer me some advice on what my best Tiki experience might be - I looked through the archives here at some old posts but thought it may be better to ask for advice anew. In terms of food and drink, is the Bali Hai my best bet? I'm open for suggestions and thanks very much! |

If I only had a couple days in San Diego, I'd go to Frankie's in Vegas. It's only about a 4 hour drive. Buzzy Out! |

Why not head to LA for the day and go to Trader Vics, Don the Beachcomber, and end up at Tiki Ti? |

I hope I'm getting to you in time for your trip. If LA and LV are out of the question for you, I would definately go to Bali Hai, at least have a Mai Tai, check out the gift shop and take some pics. While you are on the island you can see some of the other hotels, architecture and sights. Stop at Trader Mort's on your way in or out. Mr. Tiki's Mai Tai Lounge is in the Historic Gaslamp District downtown. Depending on your time and how far you want to venture, there are plenty of stores that sell tiki stuff. I just got two 46" tiki statues from Bamboo and Tikis in Sorrento Valley; but in San Diego's tiki rich environment, I would do a quick search for businesses that have what you are looking for right before you go. Good Luck! |
