I have this rather large Frankoma soup tureen (?) bowl with lid and was wondering if any of you knew anything about it or if you collect the pottery that goes beyond the shell bowls. It has handles, a lid with a handle and what looks like Jewish inscription running around the top. I googled for awhile and read up on Frankoma pottery...do any of you collect it? Any information is much appreciated! [ Edited by: leleliz 2010-08-04 11:31 ] |

I am a huge dishware collector as well. Your pattern is called "Wagon Wheel". Those are cowboy brands and horse shoes as the handles. It was first introduced in 1942 and discontinued in 1988. The glaze color is called Prairie Green. |

Also, for Frankoma collectors, if your clay is reddish, it's Supulpa clay, meaning that it was made after 1962/63. If it's a light color clay, it's Ada clay and was made before that date. The original source of clay ran out and they changed. |
