Hello everyone, I just picked up a bottle of Saint James Hors D'age Martinique Rum, specifically to use in the $100 Mai Tai. To my pallet, it has a weird aftertaste. I can't quite place it, but whatever it is, it overpowers all the other subtle flavors of the Mai Tai for me. I've used approximately 3.25 oz. of the 750ml bottle. Would anyone be interested in a trade? I'd like a bottle of Lemon Hart Demerara 151, or even an El Dorado 12 year 80 proof Demerara. Just pour out about 3.25 oz. and we'll call it even! Either that, or someone convince me of a reason to hold onto this rum and use it in something else. Maybe I just haven't learned how to appreciate it yet? PM me if anyone is seriously interested. I guess we could work out a mail exchange or if you happen to live in the Phoenix, AZ area, we could trade in person. Thanks! [ Edited by: Trevell 2011-06-21 16:17 ] |

Personally, I prefer St James Extra Old for Mai Tais. Or better yet La Favorite Vieux |
