Last night (here in the Bay Area on cable) on The Learning Channel a
show premiered called "Monster House". The premise is a crew of carpenters &
designers do a major renovation of a house. The extensive
renovation's design is theme-based
with a new theme featured each week. Last night's preview of next
week's show showed them
doing a Hawaiian theme make-over including what briefly appeared to be a huge
tiki built in the living room! Based on yesterday's example (which was race
car themed) the work is done professionally and is not at all cheesy. Thought
you might be interested. -Roger

Emily from Boston filed this report, we don't know much about the
place except that they did have the wits to contact Brother Cleve for
cocktail and music advice but apparently not the wherewithal to
actually hire him!?!?

HOT OPENING
Talkin' Tiki
Low key fun and (finally!) food have come to Landsdowne Street in the
shape of the funky Tiki Room(1 Landsdowne Street Boston), the newest
enterprise from the Lyons Group. Beautifully adorned with Polynesian
artifacts (many of them from the old Aku-Aku in Cambridge), the new
nightspot features gorgeous carved mahogany pillars framing its
circular bar. The Tiki room is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5
p.m. to 2 a.m., with the kitchen staying open until 1:30. The menu's
"Make Your Own Pu-Pu Platter" ups the fun quotient, as does the
dizzying array of both old and new tropical drinks. Whether it's
after work, pre- or post-Sox, pre- or post-clubbing, or any old time,
Tiki time has arrived on Landsdowne.
