The natives here at Taboo Island, always looking to celebrate classic Polynesia and go back to the basics, have decided to produce their version of the classic coconut mug. Most coconut mugs made in the past were perfectly round, but we have noticed around the island that you never see a round coconut. They are always a rounded three sided shape. Well, wanting to make a realistic mug, the best way to start was with the real thing - the mold for this was made from an actual coconut! To keep with the authenticity, the top is raked at an angle and the rim is slowly undulating, looking like it was cut with a crude blade by a thirsty islander. This color combination, which has a classic coconut color on the outside and slight remnants of the white coconut meat that was scraped out of the inside, is produced as a limited edition of only 25 mugs. Once they are sold out, this color combination is gone forever! We've just made a few of our 5th color for our classic coconut mug. We call it the Lavanut! This color combination is called the Lavanut version and is number 5 in our coconut series. The Taboo Islanders say these coconuts come from very special trees. Ones only found on the sides of the active volcano here on Taboo Island. It is said that each coconut was harvested by Pele herself before being given to the islanders. Each is a nice, multi-shade black lava rock on the outside with a molten lava red on the inside which has dripped out along the top. This one is produced as a limited edition of only 25 mugs. Once they are sold out, this color combination is gone forever! They're available right here:down: |
