Not my auction, and with a BIN of $500 it won't be my menu, but it's interesting nonetheless. From the auction description: "An 8 page menu with stapled on specialties sheet, printed on war time paper from the very first Trader Vic's Polynesian Restaurant in Oakland, California. Has fantastic graphics throughout the menu. In very good condition, but has a large chip out of the spine of the Menu. This chip is shown in each of the scans. This is an exceptionally scarce menu. Measures about 8 3/8" x 11 1/2" when closed. With a nude on the menu cover and many wonderful drawings and TIKIS on the interior of the menu. Circa mid 1940's with a 1943 ceiling price notice." |

It's probably a little rare, but I think $500 is a bit optimistic. About eighteen months ago, I paid a lot less for one that wasn't torn. I guess it's worth what the market will bear. If the seller can get that, I'm tempted to list some spare Orchids of Hawaii mugs for a few hundred each and see what happens. Regardless, it has some nice drawings. |
