Not quite Exotica but has close enough ties to warrant sharing. Herb Jeffries has been mentioned here a few times before and has collaborated with Eden Ahbez. Very awesome, Hak! Definetely in the same vein as Desi Arnaz....(I have some of this stuff that was recorded apart from his TV show) Also sounds a bit like the music behind Yma Sumac. Digging it. |

On a side note, another Eden Ahbez collaborator was "Gypsy Boots" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gypsy_Boots Couple of things stand out here:

Interesting. Never knew Herb had an exotica background. Was turned onto him by watching Huell in the late 90s & actually went to a KCET event where Herb sang cowboy tunes. Here are some of his singing cowboy films. Despite how the titles may read in 2013, these ARE legit: |
