This was found on the coconut collection: Vintage Hawaiian Music – The Great Singers: 1928-1934. “Ho'onanea,” the Hawaiian love song featuring double entendre lyrics about a couple making love under a moonlit sky, recorded in 1935 by Lena Machado and drawn from her righteous retrospective: Hawaiian Song Bird, featuring Sol Hoopi on Steel Guitar, Harry Baty on Acoustic Guitar and George Piltz on Ukulele. “Indecision Rag” was performed by the Canadian Ukulele virtuoso James Hill on his sympathetic CD: Man With a Love Song, who in addition to plays the violin on this song, joined by Tom Keels on Tuba. As a child Hill benefited from a ukulele instructional program created by J. Chalmers Doane that was used in the British Columbia school, where the Langley Ukulele Ensemble came into existence. Hill participated with the ensemble for more than 10 years. Hill later collaborated with Doane to create the "Ukulele in the Classroom" program in 2008. “Ku'u Hoa,” which beckons a lover who lives in the mountains to return, was written by Francis K. Beamer and is performed by the female vocal trio Na Leo – who are Angela Morales, Nalani Choy and Lehua Kalima Heine -- on their Aloha-ful album: Find Harmony. The classic song “Hi'ilawe,” variously credited to Sam Li`a Kalainaina, Sr., a Mrs. Kuakini and Martha K. Maui, is about a love affair at the Hi’ilawe waterfall in the Waipi’o valley on the Big Island that caused gossip, and was recorded by the duo Hapa, consisting of Ron Kuala’au and Barry Flanagan, from their copacetic compact disc: Tuahine. “Ku'u Sweetie,” composed by Mary Puku’i and Maddy Lam, and sung by Amy Hanaiali’i Gilliom on her peripatetic production: Pu’Uhonua, arranged by Kenneth Makuakane who also appears on Guitar, Piano, Bass Ukulele and Percussion, with Greg Dardinha on Steel Guitar. “Mystery Girl,” was performed by The Crazed Mugs on their ceramical compact disc: Find Forbidden Island, featuring Pablus on Vocal, “Luke The Flute” and Mr. Ho – from Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica – on Vibes. “Solamente Una Vez (You Belong to My Heart)” inked by Mexican songwriter Agustín Lara for the 1941 film Melodías de América, found on the 1957 liberated LP: How About Uke – Lyle Ritz Plays Jazz Ukulele, with Don Shelton on Flute, Red Mitchell on Bass and Gene Estes on Drums. “Tu Voz,” composed by Ramon Cabrera which refers to love & longing under palm trees on a tropical night, recorded in 1952 and derived from the rapturous retrospective: 100% Azucar: The Best of Celia Cruz with La Sonora Matancera), including arranger Lino Frias on Piano. “O Nosso Amor (Our Love)” written by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, waxed by The Charlie Byrd Trio with Ken Peplowski on Clarinet and found on the Concord Jazz Super Audio CD Sampler, Vol. 1. “Aloha Amor” performed by Tiki Joe's Ocean on the scintillacious CD: Under the Midnight Sun. “We’re Together,” was composed by none other than Steve Allen and Don Elliott and is sung and played on the piano by Blossom Dearie on her 1958 labial LP: Once Upon a Summertime, accompanied by Mundell Lowe on Electric Guitar; Ray Brown on Bass and Ed Thigpen on Drums. “Without You I'm Nothing,” the song written by Jerry Bock, Larry Holofcener and George David Weiss for the 1956 Broadway musical: Mr. Wonderful, performed by Sammy Davis Jr. on his 1963 copacetic collection: A Treasury of Golden Hits, with the orchestra arranged and conducted by Morty Stevens. “Fever,” composed by Little Willie John and superbly sung by Sarah Vaughan, drawn with tongs from the anthemic anthology: Tommy Bahama Island Paradise, Volume 3 -- Don't Send Help Send More RUM. “Ich dich liebe,” written by the legendary team of Max Kolpé, Lotar Olias and Karl Vibach for the movie: Freddie Und Das Lied Der Prarie (Freddy and the Song of the Prairie), where it was sung by the blonde bombshell Mamie Van Doren, performed here by Pink Martini on their ample album: Get Happy, featuring China Forbes on Vocal. “Nouvelle Eve” by the Ukulele Club de Paris on their landmark recording: Manuia!
