Anyone know the velvet artist R. Gottan from Manila? Hoping to find some details, but have found nothing on the internet anywhere.

This Pinterest page lists it as a 1961 painting from Studio Rick Gonzalez |

Thanks for that. The link there goes to: "1961 black velvet painting from Manila Philippines. So, it looks like that one is also from the same artist. It seems unlikely that the same painting would get reframed and sold again within 4 years, so I guess he/she must have painted the same picture multiple times. |

This is taken from an ebay listing for another painting: “ This original 24x18 oil painting on Black Velvet was painted by Filippino artist Raul Gotta. In researching I matched his signature with one of his paintings on WorthPoint. Information on WorthPoint mentions Gotta was a protege of Felix Pinto Gonzalez and later married the daughter of Gonzalez. Raul was an excellent black velvet painter but is not well known today. In my research I have only come across approximately 5 of his paintings, all of which were OOAK pieces. You will not be disappointed in the artwork from this counterculture movement era. “ |
