I am at the early stages of rebuilding my bar and figured this time I would post some pictures of the progress as I go. My first bar took me 2 years of blood, sweat and tears before I finally opened it and it's been around for over 5 years now. However, my wife and I decided we needed a larger home so with great heartache I had to tear down the bar and start all over again. Lots of great memories and a now a new beginning. FYI, I'm not artistic at all and I just went with my gut which is pretty much what I'm doing again. As I got my inspiration here and I wanted to post some pictures of my original bar and those of the new bar as I build it. Comments and suggestions are welcome and I hope you enjoy the journey with me. So, here is the original bar. Truthfully, I never really named it - people just called it "Todd's Tiki Bar" and hell, I just went with it. Thinking maybe second time around, I come up with something different. Well see. Shots from outside bar, looking in: Daytime Nighttime The Bar: Just some random shots given the idea of what I had going on. And now the beginnings of the new bar. Basically, I added on to the existing one car garage in the backyard to create the new space. Didn't need all that garage space, so pushed the wall back 2' to give me more space in the bar. Wife wasn't to happy with this. The furniture I had made, first time doing something like this and brought over from the original bar. So, that's as far as I've gotten so far, more to come. |

I just saw your name on the Grand Member Register and thought who is that? The second bar must be in a way more fun as you know all that stuff you wish you had done the first time. Ben would say no white walls, but yours looked ok. And your first bar looked cool as well. Good luck! |

"Comments and suggestions are welcome and I hope you enjoy the journey with me." Oh and you may have seen this but it's a thread of hits and misses when putting in a tiki bar. http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=43018&forum=20&99 |

I always wondered what it would be like to do a second tiki bar. With all the things you learned the first time, they could be used to make an even better bar. Good luck! |

Yep, started collecting a long time ago, went to Tiki Oasis from 3 to 11, did all the SF Tiki Bar crawls, and was really involved there for awhile. Alas, more of lurker on the forums though. Looking at going back this year to Tiki Oasis and with the rebuild of the bar it has regenerated things and looking to get re-involved. Here is a picture of something I won at the 5th SF Tiki Bar Crawl. Was a good year, won 80% of the prizes. |

Working on the Back Bar, weather slowing things down, but we are moving. A little mood lighting, way more to come. Top Shelf will be large display area. Thinking small wine barrel, crates, poles, etc. |

You're off to a great start! I, too, am looking for a small wine/rum barrel--the trick is finding one not marked up to premium prices. I'll be watching your progress with interest. |

Not really "tiki" but new additions to the bar. New Beverage Center - drinks, syrups, etc. kept nice and cold to 32 degrees. NO MORE crushing ice for that perfect Mai Tai. Flake Ice Machine - 165lbs a day, that's a lot of Mai Tai's. Anyone seen the limes, got a glass ready to fill. |
