Composed by George Akiu, the song takes the listener to visit the Big Island, Maui, O’ahu & Kaua’i & to collect leis made up of the flowers most closely associated with each island. “Bring Your Adz” was written and played by Ukulele Savant Jake Shimabukuro on his circuitous CD: Peace Love Ukulele, featuring Michael Grande on Keyboards, Dean Taba on Electric Bass and Noel Okimoto on Drums. “The Lei You Made for Me” by the Hula Honeys from their recording: Girl Talk, featuring Bobby Ingano on Steel Guitar; Ginger Johnson on Baritone Ukulele & Acoustic Guitar & Vocals; and Robyn Kneubuhl on Tenor Ukulele & Vocals. “All the Things You Are” was inked by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II for the 1939 Broadway musical: Very Warm for May and was waxed by singer Tony Martin backed by Frank Sinatra’s second cousin Ray Sinatra and his Orchestra on Martin’s righteous retrospective: Tenement Symphony. “I Got the Spring Fever Blues” was composed by a young Ella Fitzgerald when she was with the Chick Webb Orchestra at the Savoy Ballroom, and this 1954 version appears on the apt anthology: Songs by Kay Starr. “Primavera,” written by Joyce Esquivel, wife of the Mexican exotica expert Juan Esquivel, was drawn with swizzle sticks from his 1962 lux LP: More of Other Sounds, Other Worlds. “I'm Old Fashioned” was sung by Stacy Kent on her recording: Close Your Eyes, and was written by Jerome Kern and Johnny Mercer for the 1942 movie: You Were Never Lovelier. She was accompanied by Andrew De Jong Cleyndert on Bass and David Newton on Piano. “My One and Only Love” was composed by Guy Wood and Robert Mellin and appears on Frank Sinatra’s 1960 landmarkable LP: Nice 'N' Easy, with the orchestra arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle. “You Can't Rush Spring” was composed and sung by Ann Hampton Callaway on her 1994 CD: Bring Back Romance, featuring Lee Musiker on Piano and Lou Marini on Flute. “The Very Thought of You,” the 1934 Song by Ray Noble, was sung by Johnny Hartman on his 1956 memorable album titled: Unforgettable, with Mike Melvoin on Piano, Dennis Budimer on Electric Guitar, Jimmy Bond on Bass and Stan Levey on Drums. “Stella by Starlight” was inked by Victor Young and Ned Washington for the 1944 movie: The Uninvited, and was performed by Tenor Sax Master Harold Land on his 1993 relaxed recording: A Lazy Afternoon, ably supported by Bill Henderson on Piano; James Leary on Bass and Billy Higgins on Drums, with the Orchestra arranged and conducted by Ray Ellis. “It Could Happen to You,” was written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke for the 1944 Dorothy Lamour and Fred MacMurray movie: And the Angels Sing. This version comes from the 1958 limpid LP: It Could Happen to You – Chet Baker Sings, with Mr. Baker on Vocal and Trumpet, Kenny Drew on Piano, Sam Jones on Bass and Danny Richmond on Drums. “Joy Spring,” the composition by Jon Hendricks and Clifford Brown, was sung by Karrin Allyson on her incomparable compact disc: Collage, with the famed accompanist to Ella Fitzgerald, Paul Smith, on Piano, Kim Park on Alto Sax, Mike Metheny on Flugelhorn, Danny Embrey on Electric Guitar, Bob Bowman on Bass and Todd Strait on Drums and Percussion. “April in Paris,” composed by Vernon Duke and E. Y. “Yip” Harburg for the 1932 Broadway musical and 1952 movie: Walk a Little Faster, was performed in 1947 by pianist Thelonious Monk on his aptly titled CD: Genius of Modern Music, Volume One, featuring Gene Ramey on Bass and Art Blakey on Drums.
