A refreshingly honest rage-quit, and sad to see. [ Edited by Tiki_Thor on 2024-12-20 06:54:15 ] |

Not sure what to think about this post....in this day of fake stuff....is this real? Is this really from the bar or has someone just put this together and expressing their anger at the place closing. I have work restraunt industry and understand the rage but, its really hard to get excited with all the fake stuff on the web lately.....this could be real...but, Im just not sure. |

It's a shame. The Kon Tiki was one of our favorites from our Bay Area Tiki weekend a year ago. It was really the best; good drinks, good food, good decor, good service, reasonable prices. But the frustration of the owner really comes through, and I feel for him. It's a shame that all of these forces aligned to take away this once great Tiki bar. |

Sad to see them go but can't blame them. Only made it there once but it was cool. And those giant tiki mugs are great. |

We weren't able to make it to Kon-Tiki during our Bay Area trip a couple of years ago. At the time, we thought, "We'll just catch it next time we visit." Well, crap. We missed our shot. |

Prior to Kon-Tiki there was Longitude, run by Susan Long who was bar manager at Forbidden Island in Alameda. Went there once it was nice and it lasted only 3 years. Same problems faced by Kon-Tiki. |
