Aloha friends,

I remember the post about old style Tiki VS the new ones. That was why I carved this one. This is the New Guinea Sepik River style that we all know Trader Vic loves to use in his restaurants. Personaly I like how TV uses the New Guinea look in his restaurants. We all have our own preference though.

I carved this one out of a coconut log and hand painted it. This fiugre is one of my favorites. The first time i seen one was at Oceanic Arts.

My trip to OA a year ago was great! Mr.Schmaltz is a talent that will be missed when he retires. I hope to accomplish a fraction of what he has done for this culture.
I proudly sold some of my own carvings to them.

does anyone have any New Guinea art in there home bars?

well here is the link...I hope. I've had some trouble in the past posting links.
