Kawentzmann I kept from the days we all met at Yahoo! (A change for the better for sure!!!)
It is just the latter part of Kahuna Kawentzmann which I use playing guitar and dj-ing.
What does it mean? Kahuna is obvious, the hawaiian priest with his spiritual knowledge. When I decided for it (in 1995) I was in a surfband and thought for some reason (mostly the Beach Party movies) that Kahunas have a surfing connection and are entitled to surf longer boards and better spots than plain people. But today I know that these types are Ali’is.

Kawentzmann is really old german, so there are various ways to spell it. It survived from the medieval times when it meant anything big - a large rock for instance. Today it’s hardly used but by sailors, who use it as a name for a big, sudden wave. But in days gone by, the men who worked in sea harbours called the harbour-tax man Kawentzmann, these might have been serious, scary city employees.

So I have a name with some hawaiian, some german, something spiritual, something scary and some ocean. I also like the two K’s, as Walter Matthau (or was it Jack Lemmon?) said in The Sunny Boys: “Words with a K are funny!”
