Well, we've gotten the bar up & running on our big deck, and things are looking pretty good, but one thing really bothers us... our siding. It's not bad for a regular house, but it detracts from the fully immersive feeling we want to achieve.

We can't just cover it with matting, since water may become trapped and start rotting the wood. We could paint it, but it would still just be painted wooden siding unless we want to try trompe l'oeil bamboo (shyeah, right).

We're considering putting up lava rock siding (real or faux). Does anyone have any other suggestions for finishing outdoor walls that don't compromise the integrity but do help create a tropical environment?

You can see a sliver of the house in the 2nd picture here: http://www.tikicentral.com/viewtopic.php?topic=10547&forum=2&10
