Formikahini, thanks for the evocative summary! I'm very happy to hear that not only did at least a few people manage to enjoy the Mai Kai Saturday night, but that also--from the sound of it--everyone made it home in one piece...and found their home still in one piece.

I am not at ALL surprised to hear of the Mai Kai staff's incredible generosity and hospitality. How awesome. How magical. How TIKI!! I'll be making time to go there as often as I can so long as the Mai Kai and I are both on the planet.

You know, I have a strong belief that Fort Lauderdale owes a considerable debt to the Tiki Gods. Notice how the hurricanes keep missing the Mai Kai? I suspect it's no coincidence.

Well, I kinda wish I'd gone (especially as, not having to be home Monday, I could've stuck it out at the Mai Kai Saturday), but the home-buying process kept me here in Vallejo. Good news is I got one! and when I build the home bar, there's going to be a special shrine to the Mai Kai.

Not to mention, nothing (not even hurricanes) will keep me from the Hukilau next year!!!

p.s. but maybe it'll be held in June, just in case?!? lol
