Let me emphasize here that helmets must be worn correctly (strapped down tight) for them to work. I see too many people, especially children, wearing helmets on the backs of their heads (so they won't mess up their hair?) or with loose and/or unbuckled straps.

Bicycle helmets are MANDATORY for all riders under 18 in California.
