Hi Tikiwahine! Dan here from Taboo Tiki. How's the Island life? That mug is from the Hawaiian Village that closed down in about 1992. It was located in New Westminster, BC. It was a really cool place to go. The down stairs had different booths that were done up like small huts and they had a nice bar down there. The decorations were really tropical with all the usual bamboo, sea-grass, matting, etc.

They served there drinks in Orchid of Hawaii mugs and then after a while they had a local ceramic artist make moulds of them and put Hawaiian Village on them. As far as I know, there are only two mugs that were designed specifically for them. One is the wahine that you have the other is a bamboo styled mug that has a bunch of palmtrees on it and HV underneath it.

It is now a Japenese Sushi place. When the owners bought it, all they did was cover the name Hawaiian Village on the neon and fluorescent sign outside. It has a big palmtree on it and is really cool. All you have to do is take down there small white sign and the Hawaiian Village will shine again!! Well, that's my plan anyway!

I am adding a really cool shot of this place from an old matchbook for you. Hope this helps! Dan

Hi TabooDan, thanks for the info! Cool little matchbook, it's really neat to see it.

I lived in Vancouver for a year, but that was back in 97 when I didn't know much about tiki.

I think that's a GREAT plan! It reminds me of my plan to steal(purchase/beg for) the old Trader Vic's building(it's up in Sidney) and restore it to it's former glory in Victoria!(HA!)
Cheers,
