Hello Tikiphiles!

A good friend of mine sent me this email yesterday and I figured I'd pass along the info to any Northeasterners (sp?) who need something wacky to do / see on new years day....

"This coming Saturday, 1/1/05, the first day of the new year, i propose
ya'll join me in a morning dip in the fair waters off of Coney Island.
This annual event is loaded with pomp, circumstance, and more than a touch
of surreality. Those of you daring (and sober) enough to participate will
find hundreds of like-minded souls, mounds of slack-jawed news reporters,
and a helluva lot of fun.

There's a special one-time train stocked with 1930's era cars (and full of
wooping nuts) running on the B line from Manhattan to Coney Island in the
morning. Else it's easy to get to Coney, ask any Warrior. Jumptime is 1pm
sharp. One does not have to swim if one shows up, but of course it is
recommended. The entire event is sponsored by the Special Olympics so its a good cause to boot!

Start the new year out right! Who's in?"
....
This is the 6th or 7th year he's done it, and I went and watched in horror the past few years (havent been drunk enough to go swimming yet). Its a great time, and maybe I'll see some of you there.
