Hey folks,
This probably won't mean much to you folks in California, but to my Tiki-starved mid-western friends it may.I just got back from a Chinese restaurant located in Minnetonka, Minnesota called "Wanderer's".They serve tropical drinks there served in ceramic tiki mugs. The drinks come with the requisite paper umbrellas and the little bits of fruit for garnishment. It's not the Hala Kahiki but the drinks are pretty good.
I had a drink called the Buddha first and it tasted very good and came served in a big ceramic Buddha shaped tiki mug. I then had a Zombie and it came in a Ku -god of strength tiki mug.The Zombie was quite potent and I felt pretty good after I walked out of there.
The bartender chatted me up (and vice-versa) and I discovered he used to tend bar at the legendary Nankin restaurant/bar that was extremely popular and was located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis during the wild 1980's.
The best part was that I got to keep the Tiki mugs! This is Minnesota and I was astounded!
