I

Some of you might enjoy a recent bit of synchronicity that appeared in my life.

Two weekends ago (Feb 19), I drove up to Philadelphia, mainly so I could see the Kona Kai Bamboo Grill. This was the event that our Hale Tiki had kindly organized.

Here is a picture from that evening, of Hale Tiki with his wahine Vicki .....both were very friendly people. I'm not sure of why she is blurry and he is not

and here is a picture of the Kona Kai hula floorshow, from that same evening.

Six days later, I find myself flying to Atlanta, GA for a work meeting, and making the drive to Augusta that evening. Main destination? The Hale Tiki located there.

Here is one brief picture, of a hula figure behind the bar. All of the superlatives given to this place are well deserved - great drinks, great decor, great music, it was truly a wonderful evening.

The only down side was that owner Brad was not there that evening, but the bartenders on hand did a great job with their drinks, and made us feel right at home.

After a few hours, and quite a few drinks, who walks in but Brad. Being a ex-Wisconsin Yankee farmboy myself, I felt oddly honored by his appearance, as one just doesn't expect to go into the heart of the South and meet the owner of the local tiki bar, all decked out in a Union civil war outfit.

Brad was involved with the filming of a civil war movie that weekend, and was only able to stay a few minutes that night, but his appearance will definitely stick with me.

So, within one week, I experienced two Hale Tikis. Rest assured, that both the Philadelphia Hale Tiki and the Augusta Hale Tiki were welcome additions into my life, and any of us here on Tiki Central should be privileged to encounter one or both of them. Somebody needs to compose a special song titled 'Hale Tiki', which must be played and sung on the night that one of us is first able to share a drink with Hale Tiki under the roof of the Hale Tiki.

As a final sidenote, I also attended the Tiki Torch Nights event at the Atlanta Trader Vics (where I saw my fourth different hula show of 2005), but I was quite worn out by the previous days Hale Tiki encounter (I suspect the Concubine as the guilty party, again.)
