The only place I've ever found these was at one of the concession stands near the entrance of the L.A. Zoo, so I think of it as "zoo food." There's a local version up here that they were probably trying to copy, the "It's-It" ice cream cookie sandwich, which is still available if your arteries are feeling empty. The peanut butter flavored Space Food Sticks had a certain satisfying predictable quality about them. I'd bet if I had one today, it would be "puttin' the hurt on me."
