Rot. The ground and that pole created areas where water got in and could not dry and you got rot. Ideally, you would mount your tiki a little off the ground so air can circulate under it and make the fasteners either water tight or such that air flows around them. An open metal grate mounted off thee ground a couple of inchees with lag bolts might work, or just a free standing tiki. |
