THE SPECIALISTS - TOMORROW'S STANDARDS

Varbee records, LP 6903 (USA, 1969?)

KITT SHARON and KENN RUSSELL

This album represents eighteen months road experience, gathered in twelve states (USA) at thirty supper clubs and cocktail lounges.

In a field where new talent sprouts every day, The Specialists bring a new sound; marked by a blending of old and new - with the emphasis on new. All the good ideas of the post sixties sound peek in and out of the selections on this album, all the great innovations of today's sound are prevalent, and The Specialists offer some ideas of their own. Take, for example, Kenn's scat singing in Groovin´, blend it with the driving force of San Fransisco, override it with the intricate harmony of Eleanor Rigby; and one sees the old, the new and the original.

The Specialists have been a lot of places - geographically and musically - and are going places. Watch for them.
