I usually hold onto the packages for a while and have to forage through the brown to find a salvageable sprig! Besides, you can plant your own mint - the stuff grows like a weed - before you know it you'll have more than you need! You're only a few ingredients shy of a real Mai Tai don't make it harder than it has to be! :)
