Ben,
I've been thinking about you alot lately. Not because I knew it was your birthday -- happy birthday, by the way! -- but because I've been splitting and inlaying bamboo on the walls of my bar for the last week or so. I've been trying to get into the zen meaning of your phrase "there are no mistakes when working with bamboo", while trying to make as few mistakes as possible.
It's a very helpful concept, really.
