Seller's description:
"This is an old (C1910) photo album filled with Mâori people in native costume and of villages and houses, etc. What a cultural study! The album has come unbound but is complete. 69 photos of Mâori in native attire and with cultural objects. What splendid clothing! And the hair these women have is astounding! Tattoos are also quite visible. There are some misc photos of a ship, a person swimming in a pond, a totem pole, a lagoon or river, a conoe on a woodsy beach, a countryside view, sternwheelers and steamships in a small port, one titled Major Brassey's Fort, Pipinki, Partington, protected march 02. a river, a sternwheeler ship at a riverbank, palm trees, another titled Pipiriki House, a snowcapped mountain. There are about 85 photos in all. They are glued in. 1 is a cabinet photo the rest are of slick old photo paper. Reserve price is 100.00"
