I like the big ass Mexican guitar idea. While I reciently saw one played in a rockabilly band, I don't know if it would work for the Hawiian thing. But really, what do I know.... If you can figure it out and make it work...

Nui, my band used to play Studio Cafe every Monday night down at the base of the Balboa pier at the open mic night. It could be a place to get started once we have some songs down.

I'll be down on the peninsula tonight if you guys want to get together (949)735-2561. Otherwise, around 8:30 I'm going to the Hard Rock in Newport to see a blues surf band that features the original lead guitarist from the Surfaris, Bob Berryhill (the guy that wrote Wipeout).
