Orchids of Hawaii went out of business in 1991 I believe. I was told that a former employee of Orchids of Hawaii was able to "acquire" some of the molds they used to make these mugs and are now reproducing them. These however, are not of the same quality as the originals because of the age wear of the molds and the less than quality process that Orchids of Hawaii originally employed to manufacture the mugs. Although these new mugs are made with orginal Orchids of Hawaii molds, they are not marked as such because they are technically not made by Orchids of Hawaii, hence their "knock-off" status.
