I have a Beachbum Burt's souvenir: a record by the "Pacific Snow Band" (that's the title too) (c. 1976). On the front cover, the lower 1/5 says, "Appearing at BEACHBUM BURT'S (same writing as on matchbook above), Redondo Beach Calif." and a sketch of the place (it looks impressive, large and "thatch" roofed, surrounded by tall palm trees).

Google brings up nothing on the Pacific Snow Band but I like them! Then again, I would ... it's got that mid-70s California feel, when hippiedom was giving way to and merging with a kind of New Age-ish, back-to-the-land sensibility. As the liner notes explain it, "This uniquely harmonious and spirited group is self generating." (OK, that explains everything!) Song titles include: Who am I? ; Fly with me ; Sun's on the Rise ; and Cosmic Gardens (my favorite).

I do like the music and they are good. In true lounge-act tradition, each band member has signed it near their face on the cover sketch of the band. On the reverse they are photographed onstage (in exquisite outfits I must say), apparently at Beachbum Burt's, with a nice bamboo matting backdrop. They are in no way "tiki," though they do feature bongo drums and a flute. They must have been nice to listen to in that lovely location with a nice tropical drink in hand.

Sorry, no pics yet; I'll work on it. BTW, I have a Tony's on the Pier glass mentioned above too. Not bad for a guy who grew up in New Jersey and has never been to Redondo Beach, I dare say.
