I heard that fabled jazz club Preservation Hall is okay; longtime owner Ben Jaffe rode out the storm, too, but finally did evacuate. He's set up a relief fund for the city's musicians at http://www.preservationhall.com; money will be made through the sale of t-shirts bearing the name of Louis Armstrong's song "Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans?"
