I prefer Murphy's Stout to Guinness as I find it has a more "wood-smoked" flavor to it and less "metalic" taste to it, if that makes any sense.
My favorite American beer has to be Black Butte Porter
(Bend, Oregon, Deschutes Brewery). Close behind are Cutthroat Porter (Odells Brewing Co., Ft. Collins, CO) and the Rogue Mocha Porter (Rogue, Newport. OR). Kiltlifter (Pike's Place Brewery, Seattle) is a very good beer, and strong. For the strongest of beers I like the Old Rasputin Imperial Stout (North Coast Brewing Co, Ft. Bragg, CA) weighing in at no less than 9% alcohol. Knocks you on your patootie in seconds flat.
Unfortunately, the only beers I can find in Florida on this list are the Rogue and the Rasputin. Florida's beer laws suck and I can't find most of my favorite beers down here since I've moved here from Seattle.
Thanks, Anheiser Busch, for ruining my day. : )
