A guy spends $100,000 and 10 yrs building a 57 Chevy with a 500 HP engine, overdrive transmission, custom leather interior, a set of one-off aluminum wheels and a $10,000 paint job. Another guy spends $3,000 and 6 months building his 69 Chevelle with a junkyard 350 engine, swapmeet leopard print seat covers, a used set of old Cragar mag wheels and paints it with flat black primer. One day they are parked next to each other. A couple strolls by and the guy says, "Look honey, a couple of hot rods." I have much more respect for someone who tries to encourage people with positive attitudes and ideas, rather than "rain on someones parade", which is exactly what this is. And I appreciate the effort of every "tiki" artist no matter what their skill level or knowledge level is. |
