True enough, he credits UCLA colleague JoAnne Van Tilburg consistently and they even researched together. Its not so much that the theories are new, as you state, they are not, but his ability to provide a concise detailed explanation in a larger socio-political context and make analogies to contemporary society are noteworthy.
