Youve already got a day job to pay the bills - this carving is supposed to be for fun, not stressing about making others happy. If it was me, I would stain in clear for myself anyway. I reckon you should make small changes for customers, but if one wants something too different - find another artist (or charge an enormous pain-in-the-ass tax :) )
