Man, you now its a good sign when past buyers are coming back with new ones. Cash is always good, and if you look after people, they will tell others how cool your are, and you will have lots of good tiki karma.

BUT, you should follow what you want to do in your heart. Youve already got a day job to pay the bills - this carving is supposed to be for fun, not stressing about making others happy.

If it was me, I would stain in clear for myself anyway. I reckon you should make small changes for customers, but if one wants something too different - find another artist (or charge an enormous pain-in-the-ass tax :) )
