Matato'a, the group from Rapa Nui, as introduced by mrsmiley's posting, is schedule to perform March 18, 2006, in Maui. Tickets are already on sale. Those of you who live in the Islands, this might be a wonderful chance to see these guys live. For those of us on the West Coast, Aloha Airlines always offers some great rates as the departure date gets close.

Here is the blurb from the Maui Arts & Cultural Center about the concert.....

The MACC Presents…Pacific Connections Series
MATATOA Saturday, March 18 Castle Theater, 7:30 pm a (“the watchful eye of the warrior”) from Rapa Nui (Easter Island), came together as a family group to promote the music and dance traditions, costumes and body art of Rapa Nui in a way that would inspire younger generations and rest of the world to listen, watch, learn and enjoy. Their originality lies in the ability to combine modern rhythm and instruments with traditional instruments and ancestral songs: a dynamic fusion of Rapa Nui, Polynesian, reggae, Latino and rock which makes them a Pacific Island band for the 21st Century!
Tickets: $10, $20, $30, half price kids 12/under
