We were alerted to this event by ** dogbytes**. The Burke Museum is on the University of Washington campus and houses an excellent NW Native collection. A Seattle must see, but here's another reason to go: Toi Maori: The Eternal Thread "The Burke will be abuzz with Maori art and artists for a full weekend in February. The opening weekend of The Eternal Thread exhibition (on exhibit Feb. 4 –May 29) will feature more than a dozen Maori weavers, carvers, and ta moko (tattoo) artists, plus special lectures and presentations by both Maori and Northwest Coast artists. Observe a wide range of beautiful artwork being created on site at the Burke. Entrance included with museum admission." The Burke Museum From The Burke's site: Saturday, Feb. 4, 10 am - 5 pm Sunday, Feb. 5, 10 am - 5 pm Monday - Wednesday, Feb. 6-8, 10 am - 2 pm |
