Here's a bone piece I recently finished...It is a Maori fish spirit image known as a Marakihau, very old in Maori storytelling. Many of the great ancestors were said to have become Marakihau upon their earthly death and live in the sea! This piece is 3 and 3/4 inches, carved in beautiful ancient walrus bone, several thousand yeas old (Thanks to the great Cabanilla!). The beautiful patina on the back of this piece I left intact; speaks of the ages! For the Eli abalone I made a "pupil cut", grinding into the center black shell just enough to form a bookmatched eye. This one is sold already to Dawntiki, but please PM me if you wish to purchase future pieces !
