And happy news: you CAN get this film on VHS or DVD from our friends at http://www.noirfilm.com. Only $17 collector-to-collector including shipping! (Costs go down if you add more titles to your purchase, and they do international sales as well.) They are an amazing resource for out-of-print/rare/forgotten film noir.
