I must disagree here. There are many serious carvers here on the mainland that either stay true to the art of the South Seas or are carvers who are directly from or are descendents of the South Pacific. Disney is the entity that turned it into a theme park exhibit.

Example: Although not from the South Pacific, the work of Ben Davis could find a home on any South Pacific isle... the man has got it and many of us including him know he is channeling the ancients.
