I just cut the abalone on a cheapo tile saw.I want to put a lapidary blade in it,so there is more grit on the side of the blade for shaping. The first tiki I want to do is the god Maui.He seems to have been very busy pulling islands out of the sea including Hawaii,Tahiti,and Aeoteoroa.This is a picture of a Maui that I bought from a Tongan carver who paddled up to my boat on an outrigger canoe years ago. It may be silly,but I would Never go to sea without that carving. I need to do some research before I do some preliminary scetches, so if anyone has any images,legends,or leads where I can find out more about Maui,please lay it on me. Is the book of tiki something online? I'm sorry,but I can't for the life of me figure out how to change url to img. Benzart,I just looked at that Lono carving you did,and it is really amazing! You must've made quite a pile of woodchips over the years to get that good.
