I've long had an interest in mid-century design, exotica music, and architectural preservation, so when I discovered the subculture of tiki, and how it merged many of these elements - I became a happier person. It became even more fun when I discovered that the subculture included others who had the vision and the know-how to throw very fun weekend tiki parties. People have been seeking other like-minded people ever since the days long ago when Fred and Barney were members of the Royal Order of Water Buffalo. It is one small step from their password of "Ack Acka Dak, Dak Daka Ack" to our own sing-along anthem 'In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room.' Of course, we are smarter than Fred and Barney - we invite Wilma and Betty to come and join us when we party. Vern
