The Southern California Chapter http://www.palms.org/socal/ of The International Palm Society http://www.palms.org will be having a Garden Tour, open meeting, educational seminar and plant auction. It will be held on March 22, 2003 at Ventura City College. http://www.venturacollege.edu/maps/index.htm The campus is covered with rare and common Palms from around the world, thanks to a former professor. A garden tour will start at 10:00am and go to noon. After that will be the general meeting and education segment followed by a great auction of rare palms to raise funds for the Palm Society. Growers donate a portion of the proceeds to the Society. Growers are available for questions and assistance during the auction. Some incredible deals can be had as well as buying plants that are suited for your area. Most growers use greenhouses to propagate and grow their plants and success in your yard is often questionable. These growers acclimate the trees out of the greenhouse to assure better results. During the auction, you can be assured to receive an education on Southern California Palm hardiness, selection, planting, and care. |
