Yesterday I received a letter from Mr. Matt Dowding thanking me for a note I wrote to Tony Blair in which I conveyed my great admiration for his courage. I don't think many Americans appreciate what he is up against. Bush has much more support here. But like BK, I wouldn't have very many drinking buddies if my tiki room got politicized. Portland is no conservative hot bed and most of my friends are liberal, but we get along by being respectful and not going out of our way to step on each others toes. I think Humphrey Bogart said something like, "The world would be a lot better if everybody had a couple cocktails in 'em." Well that's my working plan anyway.
