What's particularly "un-tiki" about it, to me, is "Hula Hoes." A big part of the fun of exploring your savage side at a Trader Vic's or other tiki temples was the lovely, barely clothed wahines, and the general air of sensuality. But calling someone a "ho" isn't savage in a fun way, it's savage in a cruel, ungentlemanly way, and should get someone tossed out on their okole. |
