I bet if you used Paipos gouges you would stop having problems. If all you have are straight cabinet-maker chisels, they don't much like to carve concave areas. I love the fact that you are willing to give it a go with few tools/what ever you can lay your hands on - (I've been working like that since 1993). It sure lets you know what you need to pull it off easier, but it really makes you think. I think, if you ever get a set of mallet-sized Felxcuts, there would be no stopping you. Sell or trade one of your green-men and grab a set of Flexcuts. I wanna see you make some more wood pieces. -Gman
