The ship left the pier around 1998 and went to Maine for repairs, but the owners ran out of money and the ship was sold. The pier's management told me today that the ship's new owners are again restoring the vessel and the city's Chamber of Commerce is hoping to have it back in St. Petersburg next January. What a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year!
