The Hawaiian Chieftan and the Lady Washington are heading to Ventura from Marina Del Rey where I toured the ship. It is a Square Topsail Ketch, 106 feet, 10 sails, 4,050 feet and was built in Laihina, Maui. They have dockside tours and offer day cruises. They sail from their homeport in Grays Harbor, Washington and visit many west coast ports. The crew is in costume and are a blend of professional mariners and young sailors in training.
