This is a heads up for LA folks. I've several taken cooking classes at the New School of Cooking in Culver City, and it's nice because it is hands on and you get to eat your creation. I was browsing through the current catalog since they change every season. I noticed a class that may be of some interest to some of you. It's titled "Pirating Trader Vic's", and the class includes: Mai Tai, Crab Rangoon, Coconut Shrimp, Spring Rolls, BBQ Pork Spareribs, Lamb Satay, and Ahi Poke.

It costs $85 and it should be a 4 hour class. The teacher is Jet Tila, whom I've taken a Thai cooking class from a few years ago. If any of you listen to KCRW's "Good Food" show, Jet a frequent contributer. They already had one class but there's another class on Thursday, March 29th. I'd take the class, but I don't live in LA anymore.
